I. Prerequisites 

Before you begin, ensure the following: 

  • You have access to a Google Ads account. 

  • You have access to the Google Tag Manager container installed on your website. 

  • The GTM container is correctly deployed and firing. 

 

II. Step-by-Step Integration 

Step 1. Get Your Google Ads Conversion ID 

  1. Go to your Google Ads account. 

  1. Navigate to Tools & Settings > Conversions. 

  1. Click the + New Conversion Action. 

  1. Choose Website as the conversion source. 

  1. Set up your conversion: 

  • Fill in the category, name, value, and other settings. 

  1. After setup, save and continue. 

  1. On the final screen, note the Conversion ID and Conversion Label. 

 

Step 2. Add Conversion Linker Tag (Required for All Google Ads Tags) 

  1. Go to Tags > New. 

  1. Choose Tag Type: 
    Conversion Linker. 

  1. Set the trigger to All Pages. 

  1. Save the tag.

Step 3. Configure GTM Tag for Google Ads 

  1. In GTM, go to Tags > New. 

  1. Name your tag: Google Ads Conversion - [Action Name]. 

  1. Choose Tag Type: 
    Google Ads Conversion Tracking. 

  1. Enter: 

  • Conversion ID 

  • Conversion Label
